David Sterritt (percussion)

David started off playing drums at the age of 11 with Dungannon silver band. He has achieved grade 8 ABRSM in percussion by age 16 and also has a diploma in voice, and grade 8 flute.

Before pursuing music studies studied at Trinity College of Music in London, David conducted his local church choir, and was a member of the Ulster Youth Orchestra. During his studies in London he was a regular guest player with the Brighton Symphony Orchestra.

David has played with many bands across the years including Roughan Silver Band, Millers Hill Accordion, Cahard Flute Band, 1st Old Boys and Laganvale.

Although out of touch with the music scene due to work commitments in recent years, he reached out to Downshire Brass in December 2022, and quickly became part of the team. “Downshire is a friendly, welcoming and hardworking group and I’m enjoying being back playing”.
