Gary Dodsworth (baritone)

Gary started to play the Euphonium in school and at the Belfast School of Music and joined Downshire in 1994 having been reluctantly persuaded (how things change...) to come along to a Downshire practice by his family. Gary's grandfather had played in the Reid Memorial Silver band from the 1950 until the 1980s and both his parents were members of the Reid and Downshire at different stages.  It seemed highly likely that he would end up playing in Downshire!  Gary moved from 2nd euphonium onto 1st baritone a number of years ago and has held that position since then.  Gary has been featured as a soloist in band concerts, contests and recordings in recent years.  He is very proud to be a member of Downshire and hopes to continue to be with the Band for many years to come.

Away from Downshire, he is also a member of Festival Brass. Gary works in a music shop in Belfast so music is a big part of his life. He also enjoys playing and watching football and he is an avid fan of the mighty Tottenham Hotspur (often leading to much ridicule from fellow band members).
