Lauren Ward (percussion)
September 2017: “My friends and I were roaming around Belfast’s Culture Night when we came across an exciting brass ensemble playing top tunes in the street. Two years later, I found myself not only playing with the same group but part of their community.”
Lauren, our percussionist, wasn’t even aware of the world of brass banding until a dear friend suggested she join the percussion team for the BBL competition April of 2019. Since then, it’s been a rollercoaster of gigs and competitions. From playing with the youth band in St. Anne’s Cathedral to taking part in an online competition run by the Cory Brass Band, learning from and playing with the band has been an amazing experience.
Lauren plays piano, drum kit and tuned percussion and is graduating from Queens University Belfast summer 2021 with a Bachelors of Music.
