Amy Wilson (Flugel Horn)

Amy began playing the cornet when she was 7 years old and started her brass banding adventures in Newtownards Silver Band.  In October 2009 Amy joined Downshire Brass on solo cornet where she became the principle player in 2011.  She enjoyed three years as principle cornet player but when an opportunity arose to move onto Flugel, she jumped at the chance   Amy is excited about the challenges and opportunities this unique seat in the band will bring.

For her, brass banding is a family affair, with her father and sisters also in the band.  However, the most exciting event in Amy’s brass banding career, was when the principle trombone player, Brendan Coyle, asked for her hand in marriage!  Brass banding does have its perks.

Outside of Downshire, Amy loves her job as a support worker for a mental health charity and also enjoys spending some time with her guitar.
