Ashley Elliott (percussion)

Ashley’s musical career began with Magheraboy Flute Band, Enniskillen where he started playing the triangle.  At the age of 6 he also started playing drumkit, piano and flute and later took on to play the Eb bass which he still enjoys playing.  After purchasing a xylophone from his late drum teacher he taught himself tuned percussion and has quickly risen through the ranks of Northern Irish banding over the past few years.

During this time Ashley has been fortunate enough to participate in many events such as Britain’s Got Talent, The Belfast Tattoo, the European Youth Brass Band in 2013 and also in the same year to study Music Technology and Sonic Arts at Queen’s University Belfast.

Ashley has a keen interest in Brass Band contesting which has seen him travelling to various countries both performing and listening. He has played with the Dalmellington Brass Band in Scotland, and his favourite contest being the Norwegian Nationals in Bergen. He also plays with local bands throughout Northern Ireland in his free time.  Ashley has performed under conductors such as Mr Richard Evans, Dr Robert Childs and Ignatius Wang of the Royal Marines, Portsmouth, and looks forward to his future time at Downshire Brass.
