Jonny Sproule (Euphonium)
Jonathan started playing the euphonium at secondary School and studied at The Belfast School of Music in Donegal Pass. Jonathan loved the rich and sonorous sound of the instrument along with its agility. Jonathan loved the instrument so much that he wanted to make a career from performing and decided to move to England after a successful audition at the prestigious Royal Military School of Music. Here Jonathan was awarded the Buffet Best Brass award along with a parchment for his studies. Jonathan also successfully completed his LTCL diploma here.
Jonathan settled into life away from home quite quickly and moved to Central London to take up the euphonium chair at the Welsh Guards Band. Here Jonathan had the Honour of performing at the world famous Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace, performances at the Royal Albert Hall, The Royal Festival of Remembrance and many tours globally. He counts himself very lucky after having a series of excellent teachers from Jacklin Bingham and Ernie Ruddock in Northern Ireland to Patrick Harild of the London Symphony Orchestra along with the world famous Steven Mead.
Jonathan is also a performing artist with LefreQue and in December 2017 toured Germany for 10 days as a soloist. He was also invited to LA NAMM show shortly after this and has enjoyed his journey with the euphonium. He decided to move back home to Northern Ireland after being away for 13 years and now teaches music.
