Judith Thompson (cornet)
Judith began playing cornet at the age of 8 and subsequently joined Laureldale Brass Ensemble, the junior band of Comber Silver where her Dad played euphonium at the time. In 2004, Judith joined the 1st Old Boys' Silver Band where she was a member until 2010, when she joined Downshire Brass. Alongside playing in brass bands, she has also played trumpet in the City of Belfast School of Music Concert Band and various groups within her church and school.
'Playing highlights' for Judith have included, Downshire’s trip to compete in the European Brass Band Championships in Freiburg, playing at Ulster Rugby matches, and the annual Armagh Summer School with the Foden's Band.
When Judith isn't at Downshire, she may be found working as an occupational therapist, singing in the New Irish Choir, playing with Festival Brass or teaching her Sunday School class! Judith enjoys the friendly atmosphere in Downshire and is looking forward to what the future has in store!
