Leah Forsythe (flugelhorn)
Leah began playing trumpet at the age of 8, studying with Alan Hunter and later, Robin Clinton. She joined 3rd Carrrickfergus Junior Band and progressed through both junior and senior band playing cornet. After getting the opportunity to play flugel at a band workshop, she fell in love with the instrument. She joined Downshire Brass in 2015 when the opportunity to play flugel arose.
Beside playing in brass bands, Leah enjoys playing trumpet and is currently working towards grade 8. She is a member of various school and church ensembles and also a member of CBSM Youth Orchestra and Symphonic Brass. She has also be fortunate to have played trumpet with the Ulster Youth Orchestra, and has toured America with the CBYO. She also enjoys singing and is a dedicated member of the alto section in her School choir.
When she is not busy playing, practicing or being chauffeured around by her parents to various ensembles and performances, Leah enjoys going to the gym and doing non-music related things, such as sleeping!
