Tony Ferris (tenor horn)

Tony started playing cornet in 1974, at the tender age of 9 years of age. He progressed through his musical studies and became a member of the South Ulster Youth Orchestra at the age of 15. Several years later went on to join the Warrenpoint G.A.A Brass band for 4 years during which time the band become the first group from Northern Ireland To win the All Ireland Brass Band Championships.

In the years that followed, Tony got married, had a family and later had the urge again after a long time away. He rejoined his old band and helped out Warrenpoint Silver band when needed. He wanted more by this time and contacted Downshire Brass expressing an interest in becoming a member, and here we are.

"I joined Downwshire in 2013 as a front row solo cornet player, Fantastic feeling, I'm now occupy the Solo Eb Horn seat and hope to keep it warm for the foreseeable future. Its been a wonderful experience and can truly say its the best decision I've made in a long time.  I feel privileged to have the opportunity to become a member of a fantastic collection of talented players."

When not playing or practising you will find Tony dabbling a fishing rod somewhere, or just enjoying life.
