Ryan Parks (cornet)
Ryan began playing at the age of 8 on Eb tenor horn with the Salvation Army junior band. He then moved to the cornet a year later and progressed into the senior band of the Salvation Army. He later joined Poyntzpass Silver where he had spells on 2nd cornet, flugel horn and eventually took up the role of principal cornet.
Ryan joined Downshire Brass in 2009 and began in the back row and has slowly moved my way up the ranks to a solo cornet position. Throughout his musical career he has enjoyed many varied trips with Downshire including contests in Troon, Pontins and the Irish National championships. He was also a member of the European youth brass band in 2009 in Linz - Austria. One lasting memory with Downshire was dropping his mute whilst on stage at the Irish national championships, which fellow band members take great delight in reminding me about on a regular basis!
When not playing with Downshire I would regularly help out St Marks Brass Band where his brother is the conductor and his fiancée is the solo trombone player.
