Richard Ashmore, Associate Conductor

Richard Ashmore is Associate Conductor of Downshire Brass, working alongside Resident Musical Director Prof Michael Alcorn MBE to support the band's musical development and performances. He is also Principal Bass Trombone with the Ulster Orchestra, a position he has held for more than 26 years, and has over 35 years of professional musical experience. Alongside his performing career, Richard has an extensive background in music education, leading workshops and creative projects across Northern Ireland for musicians of all ages and abilities. He is also the founder of The Brass Surgery, specialising in the repair and servicing of brass instruments.
